When Suzanne contacted me about photographing her birth I was pretty excited to say the least. Suzanne, who is from Gunnedah came to Tamworth a few weeks beforehand so we could meet and discuss how she would like her birth photographed. After this the waiting game began…..
I had just finished a photo shoot when I checked my phone and realised I had a missed call from Suzanne 1 hour ago! After a small freak out I then noticed I had a text “Don’t worry I’m not in labour, induction tomorrow 7am” Woohoo!
D-day, it’s 6.52am and Suzanne has text me to let me know she’s at the hospital, it’s also raining. Great day to have a baby 🙂
I’ve organised care for my own children and now i’m just waiting on the call to say contractions have started. At 9.49am Dad (Brendon) texts me to let me know that contractions are 4 minutes apart! Knowing that I have to travel 1 hour and that Suzannes previous labours have been fast, I decide to leave now. I arrive at the hospital at 11.15am and let Brendon know i’m here. I head to the labour ward, it’s pretty quite and I cant find anyone, to be honest I’m a little worried I’ve missed it! After 10 minutes Brendon comes out to collect me and I’m happy to find out that I’ve made it in time. When I go into the labour room it’s 11.25am and I can tell that Mum is well and truly in labour and it doesn’t seem like baby will be very far away! I already know that the baby is prosterior meaning that he will be born face up. When it starts getting close I position myself in a spot where I know I will see the babies face as soon as it’s born….. and at 12.04pm I get to see his little face for the first time along with everyone else!

Brendon & Suzanne thankyou for asking me to be apart of this very precious moment in your lives. It was an honour to be able to witness new life come into this world!
